iPads for a paperless education

I just woke from the most amazing dream I’ve had in years… I think I may have found an idea that will revolutionize education on all levels. I’ve heard where some very fortunate schools have integrated iPads to some degree, but it hasn’t been done on this level – if I had the capital I’d disappear to India for a few months and come back with a working prototype to give to Apple. The solution should be FREE (in my opinion), but would require the purchase of Apple hardware to function, so it’s not like they’d be missing out on any profit potential.

The complete iEducator solution would have the following requirements:

1) Every student and faculty member to have a special “educational only” iPad (no games, no app store, exclusively for educational purposes ONLY)

2) Every classroom equipped with a projector or Apple TV / iBoard Virtual LED Multi-Purpose whiteboard

3) A central iEducator server for each facility, a backup server/fail-over and iCloud integration for 100% data availability, even in the event of a natural disaster.

4) Reliable WIFI network throughout entire facility, can use an open-mesh topology to make sure there are no dead spots in any of the class rooms. Wi-Fi (or another form of wireless access) is essential to this technology.

The iEducator iPad network poses the following core benefits:

1) All coursework (assuming publishers can make an iPad APP version of their books), live lectures/classes, scheduled homework would be stored as required on each students iPad device for recall at any time. Some of the most important information may usually be missed, but if you could watch the live class lesson a second time in the evening (or fast forward to the parts where you needed clarification) this could have a drastic performance on a students ability to learn and stay at pace with the rest of the class.

2) Elimination of paper in education. No more scan trons, no more note books or note pads, no more handouts for notifications, no more paper wasted for the school newsletter/newspaper. Literally 99% of the paper that is used in education will no longer be needed. – Imagine the environmental impact! When a teacher disburses a test, she would select the group of students (her current classroom) to send the test to, it would wirelessly sync to all her students iPads and they could begin on the test. Once completed, they hit “I’m Finished” and their test is graded instantly (as the proper answers are already part of the systems internal logic, or entered by the instructor (for quizzes).

3) Encourage productive adoption of technology. By using this system, it would get kids started young learning important technologies for a better tomorrow. This would get them ready to step off into the world with a strong fundamental understanding of how everything works, it would help push technology through education to a level never before seen.

4) When a kid has questions, he or she could submit them to his teachers digitally at any time, when the teacher answers, the answer is logged (until removed) on the kids iPad device.

How would it work?

It sounds extremely sophisticated, but it’s not really all that crazy and most of the foundational elements are actually already laid out by Apple. This is why I feel Apple is KEY to making this idea a reality.  Each school would have a central “iEducator” server which allows them to enter all their students into the system, allows them to keep track of student trending performance (endless reporting possibilities to extend an educators insight over a students learning patterns and progress). Once a student is in a system, they can be assigned a schedule or a teacher can “claim” the student for one of their classes. Each classroom would be considered a “group of students” to the iEducator system. Each “group” could then interact in a productive and cohesive learning environment.

Educators using iPads

When a class begins, the teacher can take attendance by selecting the students that are actively in the class on their iMac or iPad device. Then, they could immediately pause control of the students devices (with the push of a button or automatically once class begins) – so no cyber slacking is ever an issue.  Whatever the teacher sends to the iBoard (projector or Apple LED TV) can also be viewed on each students device, but the student should be able to switch back and forth from the iBoard screen to their personal notes. If a teacher called a certain student to “go to the board,” they can select the student on their iMac or iPad device and give them access to use the whiteboard (they draw on their device and it shows up on the screen for the entire class). The iBoard classroom session would be recorded and synced with all the students iPads after the class is finished for the day. After (a set interval) a certain amount of days, the classrooms will auto delete to make room on the devices for the students current classes. These are videos so won’t take long at all to fill up a devices storage  space and will have to be managed accordingly.  The primary goal to rectify this issue as well as lowering the cost of the handheld tablets would be relying more on cloud computing to accomplish these goals. Utilizing cloud storage & processing power for the majority of the processes can help reduce the device cost, increase device stability & reliability, increase the battery life tremendously and lift any storage restrictions entirely. Tests, Grades, Performance Reports, Schedules, Research, Notes, Live Session Recall, Course Work / Text books, etc can all be seamlessly integrated through the iEducator system, there is NO REASON with the technologies we have already today that this cannot be accomplished with ease.

Potential problems with this system?

1) Cyberslacking – Would have to take extra measures and perhaps make a special OS for educational only iPad and iMac devices. This would ideally remove games, the app store and any specific content that is not needed for education. Only what is needed to accomplish the goals of the system should be left present on the end-user devices – otherwise the entire concept is a waste.

2) Battery life – Current battery size restrictions may not be adequate for a full day at school. of course, with the right investment, a school could integrate a hard-wired iPad port into each desk, this would however require that desks are more of a permanent install and no longer mobile. Other possibilities are wireless power distribution (still being refined) and of course simply building bigger batteries into these devices or adding extended batteries to each of the devices that is tested and proven more than sufficient for a full 8 hour day. Ideally a student will be using these devices at night as well to do their homework, to recall/watch the live class sessions again, to review their performance reports with their parents, to review/add to their notes, to read their text books, etc.

3) Cost – It’s virtually impossible to expect or require all students to purchase an iPad for their education. They aren’t break proof either so as you could imagine, there would be a lot of devices coming up missing, needing repaired or replaced, etc. All devices would need heavy duty protection (reliable case, screen protectors, etc) – as well as theft protection. Students would need to be given a training course on how to properly use and care for their device. Students and faculty would have to be held accountable for improper use of the devices leading to damage or unnatural wear and tear.  Reducing the local hardware requirements by relying more on cloud technologies will be key to driving costs lower. Ideally, the students would be required to purchase the device, and government assistance would be provided for low-income households for the purchase of each students FIRST device (with allowance for more assistance every 3-4 years as the technology evolves). They need to be made affordable and durable without all the extra features that would never be used outside the scope of education.

Conclusion – Apple really could mean big progress for education

This could truly revolutionize education. I have no idea how I keep get ideas like this in my sleep (this isn’t the first!), but I’ve wasted little time in sharing the core information that could further the evolution of education through technology, help prepare students for an interactive, high-tech & proactive lifestyle and set a new global standard for how we teach and learn. This would undoubtedly maximize and encourage productivity, ensure students learn at the same speed regardless of their thinking type or IQ, eliminate billions of dollars in wasted paper – passing many benefits onto our environment,  provide better analytical educational data at every level (student, class/group, teacher, school, district, region, state, national, international) and improve the lives and educational standards in millions of students throughout the world. This video is a perfect example of propaganda promoting Geo-engineering, chem trails & the aquatic cloud whitening strategy proposed by Bill Gates. In my opinion, if burning fossil fuels is impacting our climate on such a scale then why solve one problem by creating 10 more when we could be working towards eliminating the need to burn such harmful gasses. Instead, invest all efforts in eliminating the need for fossil fuels, hydrogen, solar, wind, water, magnetic – there are so many ways to generate energy, why the reliance on oil? It appears we are literally self destructing and have no regard for life itself… just as long as we can get on an airplane and be on the other side of the world in less than a day, who cares about the coming generations and how we leave the earth for them? who cares about our life expectancy, the disease and conditions we are susceptible to from aluminum and barium being injected into the air we breathe? who cares if the ever-so unethical Bill Gates or Bilderberg wants to inject 10,000 gallons of salt water per second into the lower atmosphere and potentially offset the entire marine ecosystem? That’s a severely flawed thought process and couldn’t be more selfish.

This is clearly not the way we should be spending our time. I know it’d be impossible to convince the people we need to disregard a lot of today’s technology and go back to riding in horse and buggies – but I don’t think that is necessarily needed either… What we do need (and sooner than later) is clean, environmentally neutral or even perhaps beneficial energy. With all that into consideration, that’s still not the end of my concern. They claim they are utilizing Geo-Engineering to help cool the earth, but it seems that’s just the cover they’re hoping you’ll buy into, as if global warming wasn’t already far fetched as it is. I think it’s a lot more likely they are injecting these metals and aerosols into the ionosphere to aid H.A.A.R.P.  (The High Frequency or “high altitude” Active Auroral Research Program). H.A.A.R.P. is more or less an ionospheric heater. When you add the Aluminum and Barium to the atmosphere (coincidentally at the same layer that H.A.A.R.P. is functioning), these particles radiate or intensify the frequencies into heat energy, greatly warming the atmosphere.  Wait, warming? I thought the goal was to cool the Earth?!  Well, what does this mean? It’s plain as day – they are controlling the weather, engineering storms, rain, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.  If you can control the weather, you can control the world, until you destroy it beyond repair. We’d have to create Satellite holographic projectors to penetrate the eyes and minds of every living soul, and that would require a monetary investment far too substantial to even begin to pursue.

Do the math your self.  The elite are powerless without us as their captive slaves or “pawns.”  To bring about the much needed change, we must refuse to be pawns and reclaim ownership of our lives. It’s time to awaken, reject the current systems by lack of involvement and association, re-group and organize a legitimate strategy where every man, woman and child shall regain their God given rights.  Simply putting down our guns and weapons and putting up the peace sign would be great if EVERYONE were on the same page and willing to do it at the same time. Unfortunately, this is highly unlikely as the almighty dollar still reigns supreme. We must be willing to reject the current currency if we are going to reject the establishment that’s printing and regulating it. We can gain momentum and influence through music, movies and entertainment (which has the majority of the flock on deck), but that’s just planting the seed (idea), beyond that we must FOLLOW THROUGH.  For life. For liberty. For the pursuit of happiness.

Apple runs on a very unique business model that is built to last, and other industry participants have yet to rival. September is likely to see some megahit launches again.
